CPTS vs OSCP: A Retrospective

0.0 Introduction The Certified Penetration Tester Specialist (CPTS) certification offered by HackTheBox(HTB) is the new kid on the block for entry level penetration testing and many people are wondering how it stacks up to the industry standard certification Offensive Security Certified Professional(OSCP) by Offsec. I started the CPTS course shortly after it’s announcement in November 2022 and passed the exam in July 2023. Following my certification I immediately started the PEN200 course to prep for OSCP and subsequently passed on my first attempt in November 2023 with 110 points.
